To be a contestant in Campus SuperStar San Diego, you must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled at a college or university in San Diego County.

You are ineligible if you already have any type of talent representation (for example, a talent agent or manager), a music recording contract, a merchandising agreement, or any other contractual arrangement that would prohibit you from entering into a management contract, recording contract and merchandising contract. Employees, officers, directors, agents, representatives, and their immediate family members and those living in the same household of Hillel of San Diego, production personnel for the program, participating media stations, advertising agencies, corporate sponsors or any person or entity connected with the production, or administration, of the auditions, or any of their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, agents or representatives are not eligible. The First Place Winner of Campus SuperStar San Diego from any prior year is not eligible.

Finalists for Campus SuperStar San Diego 2016 will be selected from among the eligible vocalists who successfully complete the auditions process. You may audition for Campus SuperStar San Diego only once per academic year. (Pick your audition location and time slot carefully.)

You must present documentation from your school’s registrar to validate your standing as a full-time student at a college or university in San Diego County, when you sign-in for your audition.

You must audition live, by yourself in the designated room in front of the judges. Guests are not permitted in the room during the audition. Pre-recorded auditions will not be accepted. Your audition must be between 45 seconds and two (2) minutes long. You may pick any style of music that suits you and that you feel shows off your voice the best. (We want you to be at your best, so pick the song and key that makes you sound great!) You must sing with the accompanist at the audition. Auditions cannot be performed a cappella nor with a recorded backup track. You must provide sheet music for the accompanist assembled for fewest page turns, in plastic non-glare sheet protectors, in a standard 3-ring C-ring (rounded, not D-shaped or other) one-inch to 2.5-inch binder. No loose sheets, no double sided or unattached music. You are welcome to get professional coaching to prepare your audition. If you need to obtain sheet music for a song you would like to perform, visit a local music store or check online; and are good places to start.

You should arrive 15 minutes prior to your assigned audition time slot and warmed-up. You may be invited to audition early. If you show up late, you may not get the chance to auditionBe sure to leave enough time to find parking, and walk to the audition room.

By participating in the audition, you consent that you are available for an audition call-back on March 6, 2016 in the evening, to participate in all required rehearsals (schedule to be determined by the Musical Director; Date will be determined before 1/30/16) and to rehearse the dress rehearsal on April 9 (exact times TBA, but most likely in the morning), and compete at the Final event in the evening of April 10, 2016 (Call time 4pm) If you are called back for a semi-final audition, you must sing the same section of the same song. Since, the evening is also a night of entertainment for our guests, the Music Director will make the final decision about what song you will perform at the Final event, but it will be selected in a way to accomplish both goals:  Making you sound good, and making the show enjoyable.

The prize for the First Place winner of Campus SuperStar 2016 is $5,000; Second Place is $1,500; and Third Place is $1,000.


If you make it to the Final Round, you will need to provide a recent, high-quality photo of yourself, suitable for putting in the program, and a written bio about yourself, less than 200 words. This may be edited for length and content.



If you make it to the Final Round, the Music Director will work with you to make sure your choice of outfit is appealing and suitable for the song you are singing, and for the type of audience that will be present.

You will be required to fill out, sign and agree to all of the terms and conditions of our required forms. (Forms will also be available at the audition locations.) Any family or friends who come with you to the auditions should also be prepared to sign releases concerning the possible taping and/or recording of their name, likeness, voice, conversation, etc.

We reserve the right to disqualify and/or exclude, in our sole and absolute discretion, any individual from any of the auditions for any reason or for no reason at all, including without limitation, violation of any portion of these rules, or tampering with the entry process or the audition process.

General Conditions
By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these rules and the decisions of the producers, the voting audience, and the panel of judges, which shall be final and binding. Your presence at the auditions, and the presence of your friends, family members, and anyone else accompanying you, constitutes your and their consent and agreement to the recording and use of your and their performance, appearance, name, voice, singing voice, likeness and any musical or sound effects produced by you and/or them for use in connection with any television program, motion picture or the internet for all purposes (including advertising, marketing, promotion, merchandising and the exploitation of any and all ancillary and subsidiary rights), as the same may be edited, in all media, throughout the universe, in perpetuity for no compensation, unless otherwise required by law. If you and/or your friends, family members, or anyone else accompanying you to the audition, do not wish to be photographed, or do not agree with these terms, PLEASE DO NOT AUDITION, AND STAY OUT OF THE CAMERA RANGE. Your and/or their failure to do so will be conclusively deemed to be a waiver of any and all claims for invasion of privacy, defamation, etc. All federal, state and local laws apply. Dates and locations are subject to change. Campus Superstar and Hillel, and the production personnel for the program, participating media stations, advertising agencies or any person or entity connected with the production, administration or judging of the auditions or the program, or any of their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, agents or representatives are not responsible for and shall not be liable for: (i) any failure of transportation, bad directions, or inability for any reason to appear at an audition site or audition or appear before the judging panels; (ii) any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by traveling to or from the audition venues, being present at the audition venues, participating in the auditioning process or being selected to or disqualified from continuing in the auditioning process and/or the show; or (iii) any printing, typographical or technological errors in any materials associated with the auditioning process.
